Isabella Wells

Isabella Wells’ studio, Erratica was born out of her deep love of personal and ritual objects. Her works incorporate ancient motifs, personal mythology and a collaboration with the elements and the natural environment.

Isabella works between beeswax, ceramic and glass. She works with a variety of clay bodies, the clay is pigmented with raw materials and is burnished and often sealed in beeswax to show the body of the clay, emphasising the material connection to earth. Isabella uses a variety of slow hand-building techniques like press moulding, pinching, and coiling in the process of making. In her glass work, the use of the lost wax and kiln formed glass is used. Beeswax, plays a central role in the myth of each creation and is a material that is weaved through all processes.

Isabella lives and works in Sydney, Australia
